Creating a styled editorial inside one of Buffalo’s most historic buildings always feels special. The moment you step into The Statler Buffalo, the architecture immediately sets the tone. Rich textures, dramatic interiors, and classic details give the space a timeless presence that feels almost cinematic.

Originally opened in 1923, The Statler quickly became one of the most celebrated hotels in the country. Built by hospitality innovator Ellsworth Statler, the building helped redefine luxury hospitality in the early twentieth century. Today, it remains one of the most iconic historic venues in Buffalo, making it an incredible setting for luxury editorial wedding photography.

For this styled editorial, creative director Sarah Garbin leaned beautifully into the venue’s natural drama. Deep red drapery, romantic textures, and vintage inspired bridal fashion echoed the historic character of the space while creating a rich and cohesive atmosphere.

Because the setting already carried so much visual depth, I chose to stay very true to color during editing. Rather than heavily manipulating tones, I allowed the deep burgundy palette and natural shadows to speak for themselves. As a result, the images maintain the authentic mood of the venue.

To further elevate the look, we incorporated dramatic flash throughout the editorial. This approach helped sculpt the light while adding contrast against the darker interiors. The result feels polished, cinematic, and true to the space.

As a Buffalo luxury wedding photographer, historic venues like The Statler continually inspire my editorial approach. When thoughtful styling, architecture, and genuine connection come together, the photographs become more than documentation. They become timeless images meant to be held onto for generations.
